Duck Tape® brand Duct Tape Expands Color Palette

Since its humble beginnings in the 1940s, duct tape’s use and popularity has expanded from its original purpose – to keep moisture out of ammunition cases during World War II – to countless household repairs.

Since its humble beginnings in the 1940s, duct tape’s use and popularity has expanded from its original purpose – to keep moisture out of ammunition cases during World War II – to countless household repairs. Then, with the introduction of colors, Duck Tape® brand duct tape helped put this favorite fix-all in the hands of the masses – from DIYers to crafters to students.

Over the years, Duck brand has added numerous colors to its palette and is now expanding with two new colors – Electric Blue and Maroon – giving duct tape enthusiasts two more reasons to love this product. The new colors were chosen by Duck brand based on requests from consumers, who were looking for more color options for everything from around-the-house repairs to crafting and fashion.

“We frequently receive requests from loyal duct tape enthusiasts about new colors they want added to our palette.  When we receive these requests, we take them into consideration because there is a reason they are requesting them,” said Scott Sommers, director of marketing for Duck Tape brand duct tape. “Our new shades – Electric Blue and Maroon – are unique colors that will give DIYers the distinction they need for tasks like labeling boxes for moving or storage and students the zing they desire for creating the prom outfit of their dreams.”

Both colors join more than 20 Duck brand colors and patterns, including fluorescents like Funky Flamingo™ (pink) and Island Lime™ (green) and fan favorites like red, aqua, purple and camouflage.
